Museum Colouring Book
Spring Sessions, 2016
This interactive book project opens up a conversation about the viewing experience at the Jordan Archaeological Museum. Built on the archaeological site of Amman's Citadel in 1951, the museum features a collection of objects from across Jordan, ordered chronologically from the lower Paleolithic to the Islamic era. The Museum Activity Book is an experimental sketchbook that references this collection, the museum and its current condition, as well as the original archaeological site it is built on. It is a playful attempt at broadening the notions that commonly define what an archaeological museum's collection may entail. It is also an invitation to audiences to inscribe their personal experience of the space, thus allowing both the formal and informal layers of these histories to meet on the page.
